CARTOONS

I have drawn cartoons to commission, for cards, calendars, Powerpoint presentations (including animation) and transparencies for workshops.

Drawn Book: Memory is mostly based on Right Brain visualisation.
When I wrote a book about Memory, it seemed logical to reduce words to a minimum and convey as much information as possible by illustration. The book 'How to Remember'  is an E-Book and can be ordered from kate@kasista.com .

 GLASS FIBRE AND RESIN SCULPTURE.

I have worked in glass fibre and resin since the mid seventies. In the early eighties I branched out from the normal method of clay or wax and a mould and created four 6’ figures which were built up and sculpted rather than cast. This led to a further commission for two life size knights (photo).

I then developed Lumina and Linea: the one painting, the other sculpture, but both using the medium of glass fibre and resin and incorporating natural and artificial light. The work is unique and no piece can be copied and it has universal appeal.

LUMINA: These are panels that can be made to any size and are most effective against natural or artificial light. With a light box, it is possible to program a gradual brightening and dimming of the light over an 8 hour period so that the picture is never quite the same to the spectator.

Lumina are created by casting many layers of resin, coloured with translucent pigment, on glass or into a mould; this gives the final images great depth. I work in reverse, holding in my head the final colours that the layering of the pigments will give. Because of this method the unmixed colours retain their brilliance. The number and density of layers gives the work an appearance of black monoliths. When illuminated from behind by natural or artificial light the Lumina spring into vivid three dimensional life.

Over glass, Lumina gives the effect of stained glass and because of the strength of the material creates a secure and unbreakable barrier.

I have had four one man exhibitions and the work has been sold commercially and privately.

PRINTS are available of Lumina and Lumina detail.

LINEA:  These are sculptures which are built up using translucent resin and glass fibre where light plays a very important part. I have also incorporated fibre optics into Linea.

Both Lumina and Linea can also be incorporated into a water feature.

SCULPTURE: I am proficient in sculpting in clay and wax for mouldings. Also in wood carving.
